Elizabeth Bethune Campbell was a Jamaica Plain resident and author of the book, controversial in its time, Where Angels Fear to Tread. Her book was self-published in 1940 from her home in the rectory of St. John’s Episcopalian Church on Alveston Street in Jamaica Plain.
